No. In Kansas you must provide a properly assigned title to the new owner. If you lost the title and are getting ready to sell your vehicle, you will need to order a replacement title.
First, File a police report. Second, call your State’s Department of Revenue, Motor Vehicle Division, and let them know. Follow instructions of both authorities.
To order a replacement title, you will need:
- Manual Title Application TR720B
- Authorization Form TR12
- Copy of driver’s license (Registered Owner’s DL and signatures must match title owner)

To get a copy of your vehicle title in Kansas, you will need to submit a Vehicle History report. A copy of the title will be included in the report.
To remove a lien from a car title in Kansas, you can either submit your lien release to your local DMV and wait for the title to be processed and mailed to you, or you can send us the Lien Release online, and we will get your title in Topeka for you.
To get a replacement title in Kansas, you need to complete a Manual Title Application TR720B, Authorization Form TR12 and submit both signed forms along with a copy of your driver’s license on our website.
